International Kissing Day: iconic movie kisses

International Kissing Day: iconic movie kisses

Today is none other than International Kissing Day! Depending what kind of person you are, this day will either make you feel nauseous or melt your heart (we're hoping you're in the latter camp - who doesn't love a good smooch eh?!)

To mark this unusual day, we’ve picked our favourite four iconic movie kisses that helped inspire our kiss-themed jewellery.

The Lady & The Tramp (1955)

First released over 60 years ago, The Lady and the Tramp remains one of the most enduring love stories ever to grace the silver screen. She was out of his league, but that didn’t stop him pursuing her. When these pooches hit it off over a very long piece of spaghetti, it created an image that would last a lifetime.

To give this classic romance a modern-day makeover, we’d love to see Lady in our ‘Kiss Me’ necklace. We know that dog’s are man’s best friend, and diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so it seems only right to combine the two. Coated in 18ct gold, our word necklaces also feature a brilliant cut diamond.

Spiderman (2002)

The 2002 revival of Spiderman broke Box Office records and transformed Kirsten Dunst and Toby Maguire into Hollywood royalty. It also marks the beginning of the huge series of super-hero revivals that we’re still (sort of) enjoying fifteen years later. The only thing missing from this iconic movie kiss is one of our ‘Ruby Lip’ signet rings on Dunst’s finger.

Titanic (1997)

Although Leonardo DiCaprio recently admitted that kissing his close friend Kate Winslet is like “kissing a family member”, this didn’t stop the pair from giving us some of cinema’s most romantic scenes in Titanic.

We know that Winslet’s character Rose was fond of necklaces, even asking Jack to draw her wearing the ‘heart of the ocean’ in another iconic scene. Still, if the movie were set today, Rose would be wearing one of our Heart Initial & Diamond necklaces, available in gold or silver. Each heart-shaped piece features a hand engraved initial of your choosing, alongside a diamond pendant. Just like the heart of the ocean, these pieces are romantic and timeless, but with an added personal touch.

The Notebook (2004)

Rachel McAdams has said that the scene in which she (as Allie) and Ryan Gosling (as Noah) finally get together took over twenty takes to capture. All in the freezing pouring rain - now that’s some commitment.  Although it’s impossible for anything to be any cuter than this couple, we think that our solid gold Love knot Heart Ring comes pretty close.
