Lockdown Love Stories - ideas on getting engaged at home

Lockdown Love Stories - ideas on getting engaged at home

I’m chuffed to bits to hear that so many of you are getting engaged at the moment. Proof that us humans want to celebrate love and unity no matter what - even if the big day has to wait for a bit.

If you’re thinking about popping the question yourself, here’s a handy little link on how to find out their ring size without ruining the surprise – and even if you don’t get it 100% right, all of our rings can be adjusted after to fit perfectly.

I also wanted share some of the heart-warming (and, frankly, brilliantly inventive) engagement stories I’ve heard recently - and inspire all you budding lovebirds out there. Starting with one about a customer who ordered this ring for his soon-to-be missus…

The Deliveroo Dinner

One of my customers wanted to propose to his girlfriend over dinner, but he’d cooked twice before only to burn one meal and nearly poison them the second time– so he didn’t want to take any chances. He persuaded the posh restaurant they went to on their first date all those years ago to deliver a slap-up meal for two, they even provided the tablecloth, candles and fizzy stuff - she didn't have a clue till he got down on one knee. Lousy cook but what a gent.

The Zoom Quiz Proposal

This lovely customer wanted to involve her family in the proposal as he knew how much they mean to her.  When it was his turn to be quizmaster, he added a special anagram round (making sure no one else even tried to answer it correctly!). I’m sure you can guess how it ended - although it did take her about 10mins to work it out. Aw.

The Picnic Proposal

Hid it under the sarnies and ice-cold cans of G&T. A woman after my own heart :)

The Playlist Proposal

One chap made romantic playlists for his GF’s daily dog walks. This went on for nearly two weeks till the penny dropped and she came home, muddy wellies, poo bag and all, and said “do you have something to ask me?”.

Feeling inspired? Well, if you’re on the hunt for an engagement ring that’s truly unique, here’s four stunners from my new flower collection. I’ve deconstructed the traditional engagement ring, and used my signature floral arrangement to hold subtle diamonds on the band. I think they’re perfect for couples who want something romantic, stylish and sparkly.

Or if you think your missus-to-be would prefer to be involved in the ring selection and design herself, then our promise rings are proving very popular too – they’re the perfect proposal ring and serve as a place holder until you both select the ring she’ll wear forever – some examples of our faves below.

Here’s to love, marriage and everything in between.
